Dr. Steven Dobberfuhl is an Internal Medicine physician. His clinic is located in South Austin. His goal is to provide you with comprehensive, personalized care with the kindness, understanding, respect, and dignity you deserve.

COVID19 VACCINE: a new monovalent vaccine is available as of 9/2023. Keeping up with your vaccination helps to prevent severe disease, hospitalizations and long-haul symptoms. Catching COVID19 infection increases risk for stroke and heart attack by 160-260% over the next 12 months.

  • Please send non-urgent communication messages via Portal; we try to respond same business day but up to 48 hours.

  • Your plan of care with personalized instructions, lab results, and referrals are available through the portal

Welcome to Meera - she joins us as a Healthcare Navigator- this new role allows us to help our Medicare and Medicare Advantage patients access resources in our community. Hopefully you will get a chance to visit with her at your Annual Wellness Visit to address any additional needs, including accessing affordable medications, transportation, or winning lottery numbers (or not).


 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

INSURANCE

  • Starting in 2024 we will NO longer accept BCBS Medicare Advantage HMO (PPO is still okay)

  • See “Patients” section for more comprehensive list of accepted insurance

VACCINES

  • As of 9/2023, COVID19 monovalent vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 years old and older.

  • Adult Care of Austin does NOT give Covid19 vaccines, but encourages .

  • We encourage patients to get the ANNUAL FLU SHOTS.

  • If you are 60+ years old, there are 2 new RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) vaccines available- Arexvy and Abrysvo. They will likely need repeating every 3 years; choose 1 or the other.

  • We are happy to have an open discussion about vaccines and help you with your decision.

  • Dr. Dobberfuhl supports and encourages you to get vaccinated.


INFORMATION ON HAVING LAB WORK COMPLETED:

  • You are able to have labs drawn by Quest labs at Adult Care of Austin with the following changes:

    • There is a lab draw station in a partitioned section of the lobby at Adult Care of Austin.

      • Lab draws are SCHEDULED BY APPOINTMENT FROM 8:00AM TO 10:00AM. AFTER 10AM, WALK-IN LABS ARE AVAILABLE as a first-come, first-served.

    • Alternatively, you can go to Quest Labs, located in most of Randall’s grocery stores and other locations. Please contact the specific location for safety measures and requirements.

    • PLEASE NOTE: Adult Care of Austin provides free space and scheduling of the in-office lab draws to Quest. This is done for the convenience and safety of our patients. Please be patient with us if issues arise.

    • If your prefer CPL (Clinical Pathology Labs), please let us know since different orders are required; CPL cancels orders in their system after 3 months, so we recommend taking a paper copy of orders.


OFFICE PROTOCOL FOR IN-OFFICE APPOINTMENTS:

  • We ARE seeing patients in the office when appropriate. Depending on your needs, we will determine if it is better to see you in the office, by TELEMEDICINE, or both.

    • We have all necessary PPE to keep us safe from transmittable diseases.

    • As of 11/2022, masks are not required, unless you have respiratory symptoms, such as sneezing, cough, sore throat, etc.
